BTPT: ABC Book

Been There, Pinned That, Changed my Life:  ABC Book

When I saw this pin, I thought in this day and age of technology, it really is true that anyone can create a book.

Anyone with photoshop. Even a 2 year old.  A two year old creating a book is definitely worthy of a *Super Mummy star* Even a 2 year old and a 5 year old cooped up in the house during a rainy school holidays who have read all their own books at least twice, hidden all the my little ponies in various kitchen cupboards and spread the dress-ups all over their playroom floor. Desperation was setting in fast, and Television  Ice-cream Making an ABC book was the answer.

It was a really simple idea.

  1. Take a picture of your child/children representing each letter of the alphabet
  2. Use the magic of Photoshop to add some text
  3. Print, laminate and bind it

In all honesty, this was the second school holidays we had started this pin. Hence in some of the photos, the girls seemed to have aged a year or so. No, it was not dramatic stage makeup.  Another even rainier school holidays in an even smaller apartment on semi-holiday while Daddy worked, with only a few felt food toys for sanity, we had already taken some pictures with the intent of making half an ABC book.

But even half an ABC book was a great way to spend a rainy day, and the girls had lots of fun playing with the camera taking pictures of each other, finding props that started with each letter of the alphabet, and cutting out the pictures and feeding them through the laminator.

They are super-proud of “their” book and E took it to school for news and to show her teacher, who sent her to show the principal!

I also intend to get the book printed so they can have a lasting copy each.

What do you think of this Pinterest project? Have you done anything similar? Why not try it and share your results with us here…

    1. Thank you! Yes, I thought Charlie's Angels too. Probably more Cameron Diaz than Farrah Fawcett though :)
